commerce-casino.jpgAfter five months of doing renovation work without breaking the attention of the poker players in action in the surrounding area, the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, CA has finished their project.

This means that the newly refurbished space will now be ready for the holiday tournaments that will be going on and for the upcoming L.A. Poker Classic in February 2008.

The owners of Commerce, who is recognized as one of the largest card rooms in the world with 200-plus poker and table games, felt that it was time to rejuvenate the appearance of the room.

Tim Gustin, who is the casino manager at the Commerce, has said that in addition to making it more attractive and visually consistent throughout the casino, they also focused on making the casino more comfortable and convenient for their customers.

The renovation improvements are already visible and the work has made one of the best poker rooms in California an even better place to play poker.

Some of the renovations that has been done are the décor has been improved with a fresh paint in the colors of purple, cornflower blue and gold against a cream background. New carpeting was also installed throughout the casino and they also put in extended play chairs, that have comfortable backs and cushioned seats, that will now be set at every table on both casino levels.

The Crowne Ballroom which has traditionally been reserved for special events and high-profile poker tournaments such as the L.A. Poker Classic and other Commerce poker events. Now that they have renovated the casino they have turned it into another permanent poker playing arena.

Along with the play area, the whole casino floor and the former ballroom have been upgraded with 60 plasma televisions that are hanging on the casino walls. They are tuned to ESPN, Fox Sports, CNN and more.

What used to be the concierge desk has also been upgraded as well. The casino enlarged and enhanced it. The new Casino Services Desk will continue to offer tournament registration, directions to regional attractions, dinner reservations and more. A new thing that they will provide is will be the central sign-up point for table pay.

The Commerce is planning on playing host for the L.A. Poker Classic starting on January 24, but if you are lucky enough to be in the area and can visit you can see the improvements right now. The renovations should make what was already one of the most popular stops on the World Poker Tour even more appealing and it should also improve the atmosphere for the regulars who visit the Commerce often.

  1. Casino for sale

The war between traditional and online casino isn’t over as I think. There are some big companies like Neteller (as billing system) or PartyPoker (as the largest casino) who will continue to lobby in order to return their positions. I think that decrease in ‘casino for sale’ business on the US market will be substituted by increase on the European and Asian market.
