Poker Stars Sunday Million Sees Five-Way Deal Made

The Poker Stars Sunday Million ended in a compromise, as the five final players agreed to split the prize money. Drritalin would capture the tournament and the extra $30,000 that the deal left on the table.

dgiillaadd held the chip lead at the start of final table play, when the chip stacks looked like this:

Aftret – 6,387,148

Hiclimber was the first to fall, doing so after opening with a n interesting raise of 777,777 and moving all-in after Aftret threw out a reraise. Hiclimber held pocket tens, but Aftret was holding onto pocket kings. The hand was over after the flop, which [Kc][Kh][8h] to give Aftret quad kings. Hiclimber received a payday of $10,607.80 for finishing in ninth place.

Mozitas would exit in eighth when his [Ac][Qs] could not overcome the overpowering [Ad][Kc] of herdgolf86. Mozitas collected $17,427.10 for the eighth place finish.

JSchnett got into a coin flip situation when he moved all-in with [As][10c] and came up against ggiillaadd’s pocket nines. The flop fell [10d][9d][4d] to give ggiillaadd a set. The 10 on the flop was all the help JScnett would see as he fell in seventh place for a reward of $26,519.50.

The next to fall would be Herdgolf86, who took his [Qh][Jc] up against Aftret’s [Ah][Qd]. Herdgolf86 was at a big disadvantage which he would not overcome as the board rolled out [Kh][7h][5c][3h][4h]. Both players made a heart flush, but Aftret’s ace gave him the better hand. Herdgolf86’s sixth place finish was goof for a payday of $38,642.70.

With five players left a deal was struck after nearly a half an hour of deliberation. The deal left $30,000 for the winner while dividing the rest of the prize pool like so:

ggiillaadd: $114,355

drritalin: $106,021

mrvogt: $96,458

Artret: $92,881

Winn8D: $78,701

Winn8D would fall when his pocket jacks couldn’t hold up against Aftret’s pocket tens. Aftret hit a set on the flop of [Kh][Qs][10s] and the flop was followed by a [3h] turn and a [Kc] river. Winn8D exited the final table with his $78,701.

Aftret would eliminate another player when he received pocket kings and mrvogt moved in with [Kh][10c]. The flop fell [Ks][4s][4h] to give Aftret a full house and end all of mrvogt’s hopes for a miracle. Mrvogt exited in fourth place with his $96,458.

Aftret would then fall in third place to a dominating hand, ggiillaadd’s [Ad][Qh] over his [Ah][10h]. No relevant cards landed on the board of [Kd][Jc][3d][6h][6s] and Afret exited in third place with his $92,881.

At the start of heads-up play Ggiillaadd held onto a stack 52 million chips large and drritalin’s stack numbered 23.5 million. Drritalin took the lead after winning a race and then ended it soon after taking the lead. The final hand occurred when drritalin and ggiillaadd went to a flop of [6h][6s][4c] and checked to see the [3d] turn. Giillaadd bet and drritalin called to see a river of [5s]. Drritalin bet strong and ggiillaadd called all-in. Ggiillaadd revealed [8s][4s] for two pair, but drritaling was holding onto [6c][5d] for a full house.

GGiillaadd earned his $114,355 while drritalin collected the $30,000 set aside for the winner to make his total payday $136,021.
