It was one of the most talked about events in the world of poker and really the only other event that was taking place at the same time was the start of the $10,000 buy-in Los Angeles Poker Classic Main Event but even with the huge tournament starting this event was able to get huge numbers. You may be asking what could I actually be talking about and that is the boxing match that went on between poker superstar and member of Team Full Tilt Gus Hansen and fellow high stakes poker player Theo Jorgensen. In the United States it did not seem to draw a big number of people watching the fight on Gus Hansen’s new website but the numbers outside of the United States were huge. In fact it was estimated that a total of 3,000 people attended the nights match between Gus Hansen and Theo Jorgensen.
So now you are probably sitting there wondering who actually won the match and well a lot of people were hoping and saying that the superstar Gus Hansen was going to come out with the win but unfortunately at the end of the match the judges did not award Gus the win and instead gave it to Theo Jorgensen. This decision though did not come without any controversy because right after the match was over and a winner was declared the online poker forums blew up with people saying that Gus should have won the match. In fact one member on the popular Two Plus Two forums wrote “It was an ugly looking fight no doubt about that. …. but i thought Gus was ahead in the first 2 rounds and Theo got the third. Didn’t think Theo should have won.”
