PartyPoker cuts back on Mac support

Recommend this!

Literally out of nowhere, PartyPoker cut off support for their downloadable Mac software. Players who have it on their computer find it unusable after the latest update. They leave us to assume that they are abandoning the project by removing all mentions of it from their website.

A player that goes by the name of Pin left a comment in a previous post with PartyPoker’s reply to this issue:

Dear Player,

We would like to inform you that as of now we have stopped offering Macintosh compatible software. We certainly will take the demand into consideration and start working on it.

As of now, you may consider using a cross-platform application like Virtual PC to run our software on your MAC Machine. (…)

Alternately, you can play on our No Download version (Anywhere ý Beta). You can access the No Download version of PartyPoker from the below URL: www.PartyPoker.com/anywhere (…)

Pin also mentioned that the server for the no download version was down for a few days, during the same time PartyPoker began having issues with the Mac download software. At the moment the no download software seems to be working, along with a new addition of Sit & Go’s to the lobby.

You can access the no download ‘anywhere’ software by clicking the download icon on the PartyPoker home page. Or if you’re fed up with PartyPoker like me, you can download Full Tilt Poker or wait for the Mac version of pokerstars to be released.

The PartyPoker software (download version) for Mac was quite poor.

I had written to them a number of times regarding the software, as it used to chew system performance. The Mac application of PartyPoker would constantly use 50% CPU load, and anywhere from 200MB to 350MB of RAM.

When I notified them of this problem they pretty much told me to forget about the Mac version and use the non-download java version through the Safari webpage. They didn’t seem very interested in rectifying the issue with the Mac software at all.

The problem then was that, even using Safari for the non-download version, Safari would also suffer from excessive CPU load & using 250MB of RAM. I wrote to them about this problem as well, and I am yet to hear back from them (this was over a week ago).

I have withdrawn my money and no longer play at PartyPoker.

Yeah I noticed it didn’t run well at all on my mac, glad I took my money off there.

Full Tilt is the only one for me now. Shame there aren’t more options for UK players to deposit, as then it really would be the best site.
