The number of satellites depends on the poker site. Most sites have large buy-in satellites which themselves have their own satellites that run constantly, so you can keep trying to win your way into the satellite that sends you directly to the WSOP. Check with your favorite poker site to discover what their satellite schedule is.
Several online sites are also offering bonuses based on performance at the WSOP. For instance, if a Full Tilt Poker qualifier wins the Main Event, he or she will earn a $10 million bonus from Full Tilt Poker. Poker Stars is offering any of their qualifies who makes it to the final table of the Main Event a $1 million bonus.
