“Durrr” Makes final table

Recommend this!

He is a very well known high stakes poker player online and is feared by a lot of players not just by his name but by the way he approaches the game and that is “FEARLESS”. His name is Tom Dwan but to online players his name is “Durrr”. Funny is it not? Thomas said that when he first started playing poker he wanted a name that would just put players on tilt the minute they read his name. He started playing cash games when he was only 17 years old and by age 18 he had already taken a small deposit and grew it into $15,000 and he then went on saying “I don’t think I’m that good, its just because everyone else is that bad”. Well Tom you are just that good.

Almost 4 years after he started playing Tom “Durrr” Dwan has made his first WSOP final table during the $10,000 World Championship Mixed Event. He comes into the final table with 642,000 in chips just behind James Mackey and Matt Glantz. Other notable players at the table were Sammy Farha, Eli Elezra and Jeff Madsen.

I wish I could say that from the start of the final table Tom was able to play a solid game but I can not because he was never able to get anything going and really just got a cold deck. For example, on the very first hand during Pot Limit Omaha Tom was lucky enough to grab K K J 9 but he went heads up with a player that had A Q Q 6 and the player hit a Q on flop and Tom never was able to take back the lead and in doing so lost over half of his starting chip stack. Tom then dwindled his stack down even more from a couple of other hands, but Tom was able to get a little light going his way and gained some chips back. However it was not enough and Tom was taken out in 7th position taking home over $67,000.

This will not be the last time that we will hear from Tom Dwan because he is a very solid player that is still making the transition from online gaming to the live game circuit. I predict that the future will consist of a lot more “Durrr” at final tables and we could even see him at a final table here in the 2008 WSOP.

The site had a discussion of changing the final table format, If it has done it becomes very difficult to play the game,i think the players may get frustrated, but making a change is also better thing to get interest to play the game.

I’ve heard this guy has made a million or so online at FullTilt. However, all I ever read about full tilt is people having problems withdrawing money from that site. It seems nearly impossible from what I read in the FullTilt forums. How do they get their large sums of money out? Check? Wire Transfer?

Online play is different. durrr is used to playing many games at the same time online. I do the same thing. I would be bored out of my mind sitting in a casino playing only 1 game. What the hell do people do all that time? lol. I’m generation X with ADD probably because I would get bored and make bad plays.
