Kentucky Gets Blocked Again

It was Doyle’s Room that was one of the biggest names to block the IP addresses from Kentucky and now you can add the two poker rooms which make up the Cereus Network, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker. The announcement was made just days ago and it is now in affect, no one who resides within the state lines of Kentucky may visit onto either Ultimate Bet or Absolute Poker. The blockage of the Kentucky IP addresses was put into place due to the legal war going on between 141 domain names and the commonwealth of Kentucky. What I am referring to is the state of Kentucky trying to go through the courts so they can seize the domain names unless certain obligations are met and one of those obligations is to block all the Kentucky IP addresses.

If someone within the state lines of Kentucky were to try and visit either Ultimate Bet or Absolute Poker they would be turned away. No one within state lines of Kentucky may log into their Ultimate Bet or Absolute Poker account nor are they allowed to register a new account. Some other restrictions that are set restrict any Kentucky resident from depositing, receiving or transferring funds with their cashier account. However all Kentucky residents are still allowed to withdraw any funds that they may have had on their account before the block was put into place.

When the block was first put into place an e-mail was sent out to all of Ultimate Bet’s and Absolute Poker’s loyal customers and the e-mail went as followed,“We have taken this action in order to ensure that the vast number of our customers, who do not reside in Kentucky, continue to have access to our sites and to enjoy playing online poker without disruption or inconvenience.” However, representatives for Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker have said that they feel confident they will be able to restore the rights of Kentucky players and take down the blocking of Kentucky IP addresses after the December 12th appeal hearing.
