the US-friendly Carbon Poker held the second installment of their Poker Maximus tournament series. This 11-day event featured 35 tourneys and paid out a collective $1.3 million in guaranteed money. The highlights of Poker Maximus II were no doubt the $150,000 Guaranteed (Main Event Low) and $200,000 Guaranteed (Main Event High). Seeing as how so much money was involved in both Main Events, let’s discuss these tourneys in detail along with some of the current deals going on at Carbon.

Main Event Low – $150,000 Guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em
With a $55 + $5 buy-in, this tournament gave quite a few players an opportunity to compete for a huge prize pool. 1,816 players either paid the $55 + $5 buy-in or won their way into the event via satellite tourney to create a $99,880 pool; this meant Carbon Poker had to cover a $50,120 overlay to meet the guarantee. It was definitely great news for players because they got a lot more value out of their entry fee.
“beny76xx” got the absolute most out of his buy-in after finishing first and collecting a $24,147 score. He met “jessica4u” heads-up to decide the Main Event Low title, and they played a pretty thrilling hand to end the tournament. While holding pocket 5’s, the short-stacked jessica4u pushed her chips into the middle; beny76xx thought for a little bit and made the call with pocket 6’s. The flop of 8-6-3 pretty much sealed the deal for beny76xx, and a 3 on the turn gave him a full house and the win. Here is a quick look at the $150k Guaranteed final table results:
1. beny76xx – $24,147
2. jessica4u – $18,000

Main Event High – $200,000 Guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em at Carbon
The 35th and final tournament of Poker Maximus was fittingly the $200,000 Guaranteed, which featured a $500 + $35 buy-in. 468 players either paid the buy-in or won a seat through satellites, and they created a $234,000 prize pool. Many of Carbon Poker’s best players entered this tournament, thus resulting in lots of tight play and a 12-hour run time.
“PLAYNWITHNADA” didn’t seem bothered by the lengthy event since he won the $200k Guaranteed along with $49,842. His final opponent was “ImASingleLady,” and they went back and forth during the heads-up phase. The last hand saw PLAYNWITHNADA get a bit lucky since he shoved with Kh-6h on a flop of Jh-9h-6c; ImASingleLady called with pocket 10’s and had the early advantage. However, a Jd and Qd reversed the situation and gave PLAYNWITHNADA the hand and tournament title. Below you can see the Main Event High final table results:
